A friend of mine told me that we do not have to pay Social Security Tax while working on EAD. Does anybody know if this is true ?

I and the lawyer studio failed the first request for a VISA. I didn't like their way to work and all the money they asked ( 12000 USD for nothing) so I am looking for alternatives.
Is it my right to have back FOR FREE all the documentation they have collected ?

Use the AR 11 online process to change address do it seperately for yourself and your wife. When you have finished submitting new address the system will prompt you asking if you have any pending applications with USCIS. At that time enter the receipt numbers of all pending applications. This will do the needful. You can track the success by checking the case status in few days you can see a soft LUD on your pending applications. Also in few weeks you will receive a letter from USCIS at your new address that tells that they have updated the address. Some folks even call USCIS and verify the address change.

I am on H1, Applied EAD and Travelling on AP.
Is there a problem if I don't have approved EAD while I come back?
Please note EAD has nothing to do with travel.
EAD is authorization to work while adjusting your status.
AP is advance paroled document which you require when AOS is pending, you will be admitted in as parolee.

Hi there,
One of my friend who just finished his masters and in process of getting his OPT in hand, also he is planning to file his H1B visa in 2010.
While his status in OPT he got an oppertunity to own a corporation, my questions to you all as follows.....
1. Can he own a coroporation while his status on OPT? I know one can own a corporation if his/her status is on H1B.
2. If he own corporation with his current status (OPT) and if he files his H1B in year 2010; what issue might he face?
3. Are there any legal obligations to own a corporation while his status on OPT? Or does he require to take any extra measures / precautions to own this coporation?
Note: He just wants own this company and not plan to do anything much to it until he settles down and he wanted utilize this oppertunity.

That is a problem with Swift and not with your PC configuration. I'm not sure why it would freeze or lockup when importing files. My best advice would be for you to uninstall Swift 3D and re-install it again. The problem should usually be solved. If the problem appears, it could be an error external to that of Swift.
Try re-installing your graphics card drivers if re-installing Swift does not solve the problem. If all else fails, try asking Electric Rain for help. It could be a bug =)

It was a mistake by the guy who stamped I-94 (at CBP).
Her H-4 must be expire on your expiration date.
You need to go to nearest CBP office to get it corrected.
She need deferred inspection to get it straight. USCIS will not do it.
OR Do nothing about it and file H-4 extension along with your H1B extension.
If you do not extend her with your petition, even if she have valid I-94, she may end up in trouble later.

Will she also need extension in this case along with my extension or can she stay in US till 2013 with out extension Thanks.

I don't think one can open a account from india in US bank. However i had visited a website which says that anyone in the world can do business from USA. I tried it but did not.
I am in H1B and i opened a business account in USA. The procedure is to get a fititcious businesss name from the citi and open a account in any of the banks. Later apply for a business license from the city. Every year you will have to file tax return (i do it on the month of december). It is very easy and consulars help over there. Additionally you have a advantage to talk to any of the SCORE/SBA members and improve your business.
Regarding opening a business account, Wells fargo charges $10/- every month and later if you talk to them about low activity account they will charge you $8/- per month. Citibank needs a lot of information and they charge $10/- a month. I had avoided citibank after spending 3 hours interacting with the teller. The best is Washington Mutual (which is Chase now). there is no charge and i think they need atleast one transaction every year.

i am switching employers and i have about 10k in my 401k with current employer. my next employer does not have the option to start 401k until after one year of service.i am looking for options to rollover my 401k to a IRA in a company. does anyone have any recommendations?thanks in advance
