    Am I missing something totally obvious here? But what's that slot above the earpiece speaker meant to be exactly?

    Like I say maybe I missed something as looking at their comparison images they seem to imply the current iPhone 4 has one already?!!?

    What gives?

    Sensors. That same slot is on the iPhone 4, although I don't have one handy to check if it looks the same. It's just harder to see on the black one because, well, it's black too.

    OK if anyone wants to make up for the spoiler incidents, I would appreciate someone pointing out a application that allows you to save quicktime and other forms of media by downloading it to our computers (aside from the obvious purchase to a quicktime pro). For example downloadhelper is normally great at this, but it is not kicking in for me in this situation. :confused:

    Why are record labels so against cloud based storage and access of music?

    Until someone has a decent cloud offering in the uk, I can see myself sticking with Audiogalaxy for my own personal streaming needs.

    Amazon may have jumped the gun a bit but I admire what they did either way.

    I can't really agree with this. The last thing I want is a bunch of different places to buy music.

    IF and only if the same same content was offered on both stores would this be a good thing in my opinion, otherwise its kind of like the Blu Ray vs HD DVD thing.

    How is this comparable? Blu-ray and HD-DVD were completely incompatible with each other whereas the various online stores undoubtedly sell their music in an pod friendly format or face cutting off the biggest market for portable music players.

    The main problem we used to have was drm incompatibilities but that is pretty much dead. What is the benefit of having a singular source controling the music market?

    The hypes around every apple event become a bit annoying, but I still enjoy it.

    It's time for Apple to release a new and stunning consumer device.

    Movie downloads can't be everything. Hopefully.

    Too bad I have to work while the event takes place.

    Weird, I don't know anyone who owns a truck. But that's irrelevant anyway. You can't really think that there are as many trucks as there are automobiles around. :)

    Apparently you've never been to Calgary...

    Aperture's development also is going slow. Apple pulling out the software?
    Huh? 1.5 is a huge update. It's interesting that most of the new features in the version 1.x's of Aperture deal with core functionality (raw conversion in 1.1, and file location with 1.5). This is core stuff that Aperture has to have nailed down before it does fancier stuff like layered editing.

    Apple is absolutely going in the right direction with this. And at a very rapid pace. It's not even a year old!

    Perhaps all the developers are spending too much time on Leopard and Logic 8 at the moment.
    Uh, I doubt the Aperture development team has anything to do with Leopard or Logic at all. Not sure what hat you pulled that out of. :confused:

    What if after pressing the start button, you create a timer and start it. Then pressing the cancel button invalidates and releases it. Then pressing the start button would create another timer, using the same pointer.

    Totally untested and probably broken code below, but should demonstrate the idea:

    -(IBAction)startButton:(id) sender {
    // myTimer is declared in header file ...

    if (myTimer!=nil) { // if the pointer already points to a timer, you don't want to create a second one without stoping and destroying the first

    [myTimer invalidate];
    [myTimer release];

    }

    // Now that we know myTimer doesn't point to a timer already..

    myTimer = [NSTimer scheduledTimerWithTimeInterval:aTimeInterval target:self selector:@selector(echoIt:) userInfo:myDict repeats:YES];
    [myTimer retain];
    }

    -(IBAction)cancelIt:(id) sender {
    [myTimer invalidate];
    [myTimer release]; // This timer is now gone, and you won't reuse it.
    }

    Update *** "I though it worked but the timer kept going on the background.

    crashed :confused:

    wlh99, do you get an exception in the invalid method " [myTimer Invalidate]" ?

    Fully agree! If this is an update to globally release movies and tv shows all I have to say is FINALLY

    If it's not... Apple are letting down anyone outside America once again with another America-centered update :/
    Yeah, it's a real bad business model really in that sense,.

    How is "gay history" different than regular history? lol

    FABULOUS, yes, but seriously, try BRILLIANT.

    Many, many, works of art, of whatever medium, will be lost without "gay history".

    All you have shown is a deep-seated fear of advertising. And it's been stated that Apple doesn't actually collect this data, so it isn't even being used for iAds.

    How exactly, specifically, will this cell phone tower tracking info compromise your personal safety? What exactly is there to fear? There must be something more than targeted advertising, which is at best an annoyance you have to live with anyway.

    Some people just don't like to be tracked. If the data fell into to hands of an untoward person, then there might be an issue.

    ATT and their admitted 30% call drop rate is truly sad.
    FWIW, it was a single Apple Genius that made that comment, specifically about AT&T's NYC service. AT&T didn't admit anything.

    We need to let Apple know how disappointed we are with ATT.
    A great way to let Apple know how disapointed you are with AT&T is to return the device. People that keep the iPhone -- even though AT&T service doesn't work for them -- don't give Apple much incentive to improve things. Apple already got your money.

    Why do so many people have a difficult time acknowledging the unique contributions of gay people?

    I posted a link. If they read that, and are still in denial, then they are plainly ignorant.

    Have you heard of Wounded Knee?

    I always bet on the Natives at Little Big Horn. Haven't lost yet. :p

    Now, Gizmodo just posted another editorial. They are not just refusing to apologize, they are actually proud. Supposedly this is a an act of civil disobedience, a sign of their independence. Not only are they being immature jerks, but exhibit this self righteous attitude. It is just a prank, (actually it is not even a creative one) so it is not that big of a deal, but their new editorial makes them seem even more immature. I wonder if somebody is going to play pranks on them to show some independence of his own.

    +1 - correct. it should not matter but since the fear is there will be no bandwidth left after the geeks have their way, they support moves like this.

    Well yea... I mean but they ultimately want the money from users. What is it, 20-25 bucks? I'm assuming there are at least 100,000 tetherers. I mean... that's lowballing it by a huge margin, but that's already 2-2.5 million right there on TOP of the data bill we HAVE to have for owning a smartphone. They know what they're doing.
