So, you can keep driving in Maryland with your Ohio license as long as it's valid but you cannot get a Maryland drivers license because of some stupid notes written on the Ohio license?
This is really frustrating to see how some states target (segregate?) the legal immigrants.

Don't think you can do anything about PIMS its a hit or miss. i got my visa renewed 7th year in Feb a few weeks before DS 160 came in to play. It was fairly smooth infact I felt they were much more organized this time then in the past years. If I recall my appointment was for 9:15 am I reached outside the consulate at 9.00am. They had us and the groups that I can't recall the term but indian co's that had groups of their peeps attending visa interviews in separate lines. Have your passport, original 797 and fee receipt together while waiting and from then on the usual. I have never seen or used the Strips Lounge but then I am a local too so comfort level with that. u can use AC21 in 2 ways.
one -change employer with ur H1b
two -change employer with EAD if you have one.
EAD is not necessary for AC21. EAD is a way not to transfer H1b and change employer,but you will need to renew this every year, EAD is temp green card while on H1 status.
If you pass 180 days after 485 filing , it will remain valid if your 140 is approved and is not revoked before 180 days from 485 filing.
- Is it safe to transfer H1 (after 180days) without AC21?
- How will it affect my 485?

There are some unused and unallocated visa numbers reported by various means. Few# got reported by consulate abroad and few reported by USCIS.
2. How USCIS and Consulate can report unused Visa #'s?
You might be reading the I-485 rejection cases by CIS and Consulate
You might be hearing about USCIS is unable to process the applications received
You might be hearing people could not able to file whose cased were current in June.
All these Visa #'s are reported back
3. To me around 20000 such numbers are available for this years quota

Goto the SSA office in person, you will be done in an hour or less. No mailing hazzles.
Do we have to go in person to the SSN office to apply for SSN based on EAD for a person who's on H4 before ?

The PD only shows on the Approval Notice of the I140 . The I485 does not show any PD.

As far i know you should have a valid H1 status or approved EAD to work and keep your status as valid.
Once you start working on EAD there may be gaps with next EAD approval.
Simply you will not claim working during that period but this is possible only after you start working on your first EAD.
simply if you do not have a valid H1 until you get EAD and claim working on EAD with your Employer by filling W4 forms etc. you will be out of status..
Please check with a attorney on this!!

I have been working for a University for the last 3 yrs(2005-2008). The H1 they have is quota exempted and is non transferable. In 2006 a consultant A offered me a job and filed for H1b in the quota it has got approved.But due to certain reasons i have not joined them and still continued it the university job. In 2008 i got an another job oppurtunity with an another consultant B. They filed a H1 transfer from company A to Company B ,showing my university h1 that i am still in status.This H1 application by company B got denied and i have left the university job. Can i join the company A because they have an H1 approved in my name in oct 2006. I contacted consultant A and they still have not cancelled the H1 they have in my name.

Based on the bulletin, I see the bulletin is based on report from July 9......so it is likely there is more spillover and might move another 3 years...Just being hopeful.....:-)

I have few colleagues that got only 1 (one) RFE for their I-485 such as birth certificate, one got missed physician signature on one document, the other got no RFE and the green card did just appeared. How I wish I could have an RFE similar with these or nothing at all.
